In our reading class, we will continue to build on and strengthen the reading skills your child already has. We will be doing a lot of reading projects and activities on the student Ipads and the classroom SmartBoard. My goal is to expose your child to many different kinds of books and other forms of text. We will be spending a lot of time reading different non-fiction texts in class and working on our comprehension skills.
Your child will be expected to complete a specific amount of AR points each marking period. This will comprise of 25% of their overall reading grade (so it is very important). They will be able to reach this goal by taking tests on books they read, books I read to the class, books they read with a partner in class, books they read at home with you, or any other place they might read a book. My only rule with this is that the book be at their reading level or above, so they will continue to challenge themselves to become better readers.
